I just got an email:
Congratulations!
You are one of 50 semi-finalists in the Comic Strip Superstar contest! Your submission will now be reviewed and scored by our expert panel of comics creator judges: Scott Hilburn, Lynn Johnston, Mark Tatulli and Garry Trudeau. Stay up to date on the Comic Strip Superstar contest by visiting http://www.amazon.com/comicstripsuperstar.
I submitted 12 comic strips from my comic strip, STUFFED. A few weeks ago they told me I made it into the top 250. I wasn’t that excited. My odds were still pretty long. This is a bit more exciting. Now I only have to hunt down and kidnap 49 people to win the contest.
If you go to the website, they list the top fifty. I’m Number 42 (lucky number) on the list, STUFFED!
If I make it through the next cut, I will be in the top 10 and then the public votes…
I’m not allowed to post any of the submitted comics, so I have created a new one with the same characters. This is called Mad Science Degree, with Ted the Bear and Doctor Beaver!
A quick note: I have decided to go back to pencil and paper with ink for my comic strips. I have been trying to learn with the Wacom over the last few weeks (see all the horribly drawn stick figures!!!), hoping to cut out a step (the scanning), but the quality is not anywhere near what I can do with a pencil. Therefore, today’s comic looks somewhat less like crap! I will still use the Wacom for editing and touching up, which is where it does come in useful, but I don’t ever see it replacing pencil and paper for me.
